NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC CHANNEL - "Five Years on Mars"
We've been on location on Mars this summer and fall with award winning producer
Mark Davis of MDTV and Dan Maas of Maas Digital! Collaborating with David Gregg and his team at Digital Magic Animation and using the latest tools from Sidefx Houdini including the brand new FBX translator (making it possible to share our houdini scene files with David's Maya team), we created 31 shots to contribute to this superb HD program about NASA's Mars rovers, Spirit and Opportunity.
Special thanks go to Dan Maas for his creative and technical guidance, David Gregg for his un-yielding good nature and outstanding job on lighting, shaders, render and compositing , Jason Simmons for his brilliant rigging of our rover and illustrator Reid Schwartz for hundreds of beautiful background plates. Thanks also go to the rest of the crew who contributed their talent and time to making this photo-realistic trip to Mars possible. See a full list of credits at the National Geographic "Five Years on Mars" website (link below).
The program will air on November 2nd, at 8PM. For more information about the
